After a great journey on the very first day, it is time to extend a bit long and reach the remote places. So, we woke up early and got ready within 9 AM. We just go ahead and started cleaning our mean machine while Atreyi was busy colleting the useful things like Camera, Mobile etc. Most of the photos in any bike trip is taken by her. So, friends if you like any photo, credit goes to her J. Once we are done with cleaning, we checked if everything is working correctly on our vehicles and left for the nearby petrol pump. We filled the oil tank fully, checked with locals on our route and matched the same with map and headed towards ATLA & TARAPITH. However, rather than taking the normal route we took the odd route through village. Soon, we reached near river KOPAI. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the nature. We couldn’t control ourselves and started doing offroading on KOPAI river bed. We spent some time taking snaps of the river and its adjacent area along with our riding machines.

After enjoying the beauty of the river and offroading we started towards our destination. As the road condition is very bad (as only local folks travel either through bullock cart or by walking), in fact no road at all, so it took huge amount of time to reach there. On our way we have done some racing with a train near BATASPUR railway station. Around 1 PM we had some snacks (specially I enjoyed having muri & telebhaja – snacks and sweets) near BATASPUR railway station and left for destination.

Finally we get to the main road near RAMPURHAT around 2:30 PM and found that rear tire of Rajdeep’s bike got punctured. It took time to fix the tire as he has modified his mean machine a lot. Once fixed we had our lunch and finally reached ATLA around 3:30 PM. This is the birthplace of BAMAKHEPA. BAMA-KHEPA, literally means the mad ("KHEPA") follower of "left handed" ("BAMA" or "VAMA" in Sanskrit) path – the Tantric way of worship. BAMAKHEPA, goddess TARA’s ardent devotee lived near the temple and mediated in the cremation grounds. He was a contemporary of another famous Bengali saint RAMAKRISHNA. At a young age, BAMAKHEPA left his house and came under the tutelage of a saint named KAILASHPATI BABA, who lived in TARAPITH. He perfected yoga and Tantric Sadhana (worship).
It is said: Tara appeared in the dream of Maharani ("Queen") of NATORE and told her to feed the saint first as he was her son. After this incident, BAMAKHEPA was fed first in the temple before the deity and nobody obstructed him. It is believed that Tara gave a vision to BAMAKHEPA in the cremation ground in her ferocious form and then took him to her breast. Please visit the link to know more about BAMAKHEPA
The road from ATLA to TARAPITH is beautiful with so many S type curves. It was really enchanting for me to see how Rajdeep was taking pass in all the S curves (as I could not see myself). But after making each turn he was congratulating me which seems that I took the curve better than him J.

Soon, we reached TARAPITH. Frankly speaking we did not enjoyed at all after we enter there. We pay Rs. 100/- to the priest for worshiping the goddess on behalf of us as there was a queue of more than thousand persons. But suddenly we see that locals are fighting with the authority demanding they are standing in the queue for a long time and now the gate need to be opened for them. In between we saw that some priests were calling people to different small temples and forcing them to donate some money. It had happened with us also and we found the situation really uncomfortable. So, we left at earliest after taking some snaps.

Our next destination from TARAPITH was NALHATI. This place is near the West Bengal - Jharkhand border. On our way to NALHATI we came across to MAHAMILAN MATH where we had some nice conversation with some of the grandmothers of MAHAMILAN MATH. They were really surprised to see that we came such a long distance on 2 wheeler for a trip to The Land of Red Soil.

NALHATI is named after the Shakti Peetha Nalhateshwari Temple, which according to the mythologies is the situated where the "Nala" i.e. throat of goddess Shakti had fallen. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India. This place is not far from TARAPITH. So, we reached NALHATI very soon. It was really a nice place and we started taking snaps.

He chalked out a plan and we started riding as per the plan. Soon, we reach to a place (can’t remember now) from where BOLPUR is about 50 kms. But it was almost 8:30 PM and we got too late. Finally we reached BOLPUR around 9:30 PM. On our way we gone through places like MAYURESHWAR DAM & KHOAI. But as it was too dark we could not even see what were there L. As soon as we reached BOLPUR, we found only the same hotel is kept open as we conveyed them about our plan yesterday. We had a great dinner there and went to our lodge.
We were feeling sad as tomorrow is the last day of our trip and we will be back to KOLKATA tomorrow itself. So, I need to chalk out the plan in a way so that we can cover as many places as we can and reach KOLKATA at proper time.
